Considering that DICE are no longer using the one mechanic that provided some means of variety to snipers, I foresee there only being 2 rifles used after launch: the high capacity, high RoF, low velocity rifle (which, at this point, is the Lee-Enfield. I'm going to adjust to snipers in BFV when I finally get to play it, but that does not mean snipers are in any way balanced (I do hope they are). The skill floor for sniping, at least in titles prior to BF1, was simply too high to warrant the average player to do, whereas the pay-off (a single kill) was too low to warrant the required skill to use. An average player should be capable of using the scout class weapons about as equally as any other, and that was not the case previously. The fact that you are ok with how much of a gap there is in skill level is troubling, as all it suggests is that you do not want class balance and variety to exist. ARMA, RO2, Insurgency, CoD, BF (not just BF1 either, but BC2 as well), Titanfall and probably many more that I cannot remember off the top of my head. There are many types of FPS games out there, and not all of them follow this supposed rule you have imposed on them. This has always been the way sniping has worked in FPS games That's like saying that the MMGs are incredibly powerful because of their large magazine capacity. If you remove it, the weapon class is literally worthless compared to semi-autos. The 1hk headshot is not an incredible power, it's literally the only thing snipers have going for them. This was even the case in BF1, where snipers were supposedly OP. There is good reason that the high skill snipers only use them as a challenge, and not to be their most productive. Just because you can theoretically always 1 hit kill a player means nothing when using an AR is far more efficient in 99% of engagements, and high skill players like Ravic know it. Here's the problem with the "sniping should be skilful" argument: snipers are inferior to almost every weapon class in the most common engagement ranges.
